No you cannot. The Wii can play Gamecube games only. If you would choose to get your Wii modded, you can then play your backups of Wii games or Gamecube games from ANY region. Try out www.norcalmods.com. They'll be able to help you get the right modchip called the WiiKey. They're located in California and do an awesome job.
