what is the benefits of have the wii mod chip?

1. i think modding your wii is a waste of time and money, plus you may not get another wii if you screw it up , so no there are no benifits for a wii mod chip
2. the benefits of modding your wii is that you get to play pirated games or games burned on a DVD on your wii that you can't do otherwise with a normal wii. If you mod your wii, you can play games outside your region (eg from japan) and play pirated games and so, you play games for free really. The downside is that you void your warranty with nintendo and if anything bad happens to your wii, you're on your own.
