Does a Mod chip in the Wii allow for full function of?

- Yes, the purpose of a modchip in the wii is to allow you to play games that are downloaded for free. However, doing so will void your warranty with Nintendo so whould anything go wrong, you're screwed. Modding your wii will allow you to play both backup and original games
- Yea pretty much. Depending on the mod chip you may even download virtual console games and allow for DVD playback, not to mention the ability to read disks from another continent. Keep in mind though that although you can legally hack and dismember your wii as much as you want, downloading copyrighted material is illegal and your Nintendo warranty becomes void as soon as you take out that first screw. In order words, have fun beating the system but don't cry if you screw up or the cops come knocking at your door.
