What happened to Wii production?

I've called every store in my area that sells video game consoles and they've all told me they don't plan on getting any Wii's until late Januray or early February. I haven't even seen any Wii's in stock online other than the rip-off bundles with bad games. I check Wii trackers often and haven't seen any retail-priced Wii's in their stock history for a while now. My plan was to not worry about getting a Wii during the xmas craze and just get one afterwards during early January...but apparently Nintendo has stopped producing Wiis, or it seems at least ;/ I guess my plan backfired? Why haven't there been any new Wii's in stock lately?

  1. Nintendo wants to keep demand high and so they are artificially keeping the supply of Wii consoles low. They are doing this to keep price high. That is the way of the business world! Unfortunately!
  2. Well Wii is the best!!!
  3. Nintendo have been overwhelmed with buyers, and simply cant make them fast enough to suit the demand
  4. The Wii sported an enormous craze, and Nintendo wasn't making enough, making the Wiis sell for higher prices, and making Nintendo earn thousands and maybe even millions for the wii.
  5. Don't believe everyone's "Conspiracy" theory!!! The plain and simple fact is the Nintendo Wii was "THE HOT" Christmas item this year (Like Tickle Me Elmo and Cabbage Patch Kids of previous years) ... And when that happens... NO COMPANY IN THE WORLD could ever possibly keep up with the demand!!! When practically every household in America all want the same thing for Christmas... how could you keep up with that demand... YOU COULDN'T!!! There have been Wii's in stock lately... BUT, just like before Christmas, they sell out almost instantly!!! There is still high demand even AFTER the holidays to get one... because of all the people who wanted one for Christmas and couldn't get a hold of one!! If Nintendo WERE keeping the supply of Nintendo Wii's low on purpose... To make the price higher???? That's not logical thinking... Nintendo still sells the system for $250 no matter how many they sell!!! It's the people who buy them and sell them for more on-line or on E-Bay that are making the "Extra" money, NOT NINTENDO!!!! So that doesn't make any sense... does it!!!
  6. Late January is when the Nintendo/Gamestop pre-orders are supposed to be done getting supplied. Sounds like Nintendo is in fact concentrating on fulfilling their promise for those.
