  1. battories dead?
  2. I sometimes found that my sensor bar didn't work well when sitting in direct sunlight. When I closed the shades, it worked just fine.
  3. check the batteries on your wii controller... also refer to the startup guide to see if you set up the controller correctly (sync. with the system).
  4. Have the batteries on your remote run out? If it is the sensor bar you will have to buy a new one, they aren't expensive. You can also use two candles instead of the sensor bar (just place the candles where the ends of the sensor bar would normally be), do this and see if it works, if it does then your sensor bar is broken. Go to this link for a list of sensor bars you can buy- http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-1581330-8662261?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sensor+bar&x=0&y=0
  5. Is the problem even your sensor bar? Here's an easy trick to check if your sensor bar is working: If you have one, grab a digital camera/camcorder, or phone camera. Any digital camera with a screen will do. Now, turn on the Wii, and point the camera at the sensor bar. Look at your cameras screen, and you should see lights on the left and right side of the sensor bar. If you do, your sensor bar is working properly. Second, does the Wiimote connect to the Wii? Do the Wiimote's lights not turn on when you push buttons, even if the batteries are good? If so; open up the Wiimote's battery cover, and hit the red button - the Wiimote lights should begin to flash. While they're flashing, open up the SD card reader cover on the Wii, and push that red button. Wait, and it will sync. And keep in mind, that the sensor bar is just an infrared "flash light" that gives off infrared light for the Wii Remote to "see" through it's on-board infrared camera. That allows the Wiimote to know where it's being pointed around the Wii Sensor Bar. But, nature gives off infrared light too. Lit candles and fireplaces, the Sun, and etc. are all things that can act as a "sensor bar," and thus the Wiimote will get confused as to what is the sensor bar, and what's the sun. So make sure any window blinds around your TV are closed.
