- My friend has his moded and hasnt had any probs and i havent heard anyone complain locally yet, plus unless the person is a total nub there shouldnt be any install problems, you only need basic soldering skills to install it, my friend installed his and i only gave him a 5min how to lesson over the phone, since i didnt have time to drop around. However i havent checked online since i dont have a Wii myself, perhaps some peops out there may have had probs.
- Modifying it will void your warranty, and even if your friend's work doesn't "mess up" your console, there's all kinds of other things that could go wrong and you wouldn't be able to send your console back to Nintendo for repair. As far as whether or not it will work? My understanding is that it does. People have been "modding" their game consoles for years, gamecubes, playstations, X-boxes, etc. It's perfectly legal to do so--but only to make and play copies of titles you've purchased and legitimately own. It's not legal to make and play copies of titles that you've rented, borrowed from friends, or downloaded off "shareware' sites. Just the same as any other copywrited material.
