Do game systems ever go on sale? Or come down in price?
Since Xbox, Game Cube and PS3 have been out for awhile (longer than Wii) have they ever cost less than when they first came out? Any chance of Wii EVER coming down? I'm not going to wait for that if it ever happens as I want to get it for the kids/family for Xmas but just curious. I have, however, seen some Wii games reduced in price on the shelves.

- Yea. When a newer game system from the company comes out. Or you can go to gamestop & buy a used one.
- It usually depends on various factors for game systems to go on sale. The number one sale time period would usually be near the end of the year holiday season. Usually developers, reailers and manufacturers alike would like to go for broke and make big sales and the end of the year. Other than that, you probably need to just look for retailers specific sales and look around often. But usually it takes a while before game systems start to come down in prices. Because manufacturers are trying to recover their initial/research/marketing costs. Then after that, it depends on other factors like competition's price. Or if the manufacturer came up with better design down the road, such as in the case of PS2 -> Slim PS2.
- I'm going to assume that you mean PS2, not PS3. Yes, game systems do eventually drop in price, but that usually doesn't happen for a few years. I think that the Gamecube didn't drop in price until it had been out for about three years. There's no way that the Wii will be reduced in price by this Christmas. It's still wildly popular, so Nintendo doesn't have any incentive to cut the price. Because the game companies are the ones who set the price, game systems don't go on sale for a weekend or anything like that. A retailer has no choice when it comes to console pricing.
