When playing Nintendo Wii games, do you have to always use the nunchuck and remote contol simultaniously?

If so, what is this like compared to the older controls such as that used when playing the Gamecube or PS2?

  1. No you only have to use both at the same time for some games, like boxing, you are punching w/both hands so you need a controller in each. I honestly couldn't compare it to any other controller that I've used. It's a completely different experience, the player is far more active and involved using the wiimote and nun chuck. Personally I love it, I think it's just ingenious.
  2. You don't normally use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck simultaniously at the same time with all Wii games. Most wii games only involve just the Wii remote. Take Excite Truck, or Super Paper Mario for example. Games that use both the Wii remote and nuncuck are Zelda Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Red Steel, and Marve Ultimate Alliance. There are many other games; just look at the back of the game box to see which controllers are used. There are times in Wii Sports; Boxing is the only one that uses the nunchuck... when you can have fun and wave your arms with much excitement and motion; just be sure your remotes go flying! ;) At times, you don't normally use much motion at all. Like in Zelda Twilight Princess, you can gladly sit and relax... and all it takes are light flicks of the remote to do sword slashes, and shaking the nunchuck to spin attack. Plus it's hugely different compared to the GameCube controller. Reason why is because you're holding two different controllers in two hands; instead of one controller with both hands. I usually can play a game one handed with a regular controller; like Zelda OoT. I got skill! :D So I can make Link move, while I say, eat something with my other hand. I'm also the same way when I play Zelda TP. I can rest one remote, and freely use one, then pick up the other when I'm ready. I'm a pretty laid back guy when it comes to video games; I ususually lay down on my bed when I play.
