Can Nintendo Wii games be played with the old Gamecube controllers?

For those that do not want to use the new controller, can every game be played using the Gamecube controllers?

1. yea theres ports for them and they do support them most at least.
2. Not all games will be compatible with the gamecube controller yet there will be few games that will be such as (or it is believed to be) Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Some games that are no gamecube controller compatible are Wii classic controller compatible but just as with the gamecube controller, not all of them.
3. Some third party developers had talked about making new games compatible with the gamecube controller but most first and second party developers will be making games that use exclusively the Wiimote and nunchuk. The classic controller will also be used for some new games as well as VC download games.
4. some games not all of them mostly virtual console games and all gamecube games of course.
5. I heard that the game cube controller will only be able to play the game cube games, that the classic wii controller is for any of the online or downloaded games and that a good number of the wii games will need the controller that comes with the system.
