How can you tell which controller is to be used on Wii Games?

Like some games have on the back, the pictures of Wii Remote and Nunchuck together, some dont. Some have just the Wii Remote, and others have all of them. So what does that mean? I was told that if the Wii Remote and Nunchuck isn't connected on the box. Then you can use either one. Some one help me on this subject.

1. If the back of the game case shows both the Nunchuck and the Wii remote, then you will have you use both of them. If it only shows then Wii remote, then you don't need the nunchuck. You will never use the nunchuck by itself because if must be plugged in to the Wii remote to work. Some games like Mario and Sonic at the Olympics use the nunchuck for certain events. In this case, when you play an event, it will say if you need both the nunchuck and the remote or just the remote.
2. if the back of the case it shows 1,2,3, or 4 wii remotes then it uses only the remote and up to 4 players. if it shows the remote and the nunchuk then it uses both.
