Is it normal for the Nintendo Wii console to stay a little warm even if it is turned off?

Also I noticed the little light when the Wii is off is staying orange. I thought it was supposed to stay red when the console was off. Can you tell me what is normal? Thank you!

  1. yeah cuz nowadays all these electronics burn up your electric..by still generating electricity...even if its off its on..only way around this is buy a big plug and unplug all of it..
  2. yes because its like on standby
  3. Yes even though its turned off it still gets some energy because it is simply put into standby mode. It gets 1/60 of the energy it gets when it is turned on.
  4. the light staying orange is normal. as for being warm i have no idea.
  5. yeah, it's normal. Mine does that a lot. Expose it to cool air and it should cool off quickly (:
  6. Wiiconnect24 is enabled, go into the settings and turn it off, the wii will stop being warm, and the red light will be back.
  7. Just like most electronics, it still draws power when it is off, especially if you have WiiConnect 24 turned on. My Wii is a tad warm when it's off, and the light is orange, not red, if you have WiiConenct 24 turned on.
  8. i cant tell you about the orange thing, but im pure its normal for every console to be warm after its turned off. its probably because you played it for a long time. its the same w dvds, and some cd players.
  9. Mine stays orange when I turn it off, too. It means that WiiConnect24 is on, which is a little program that runs in the background 24/7 and downloads software updates over the internet. When WiiConnect24 is enabled, turning off your Wii really puts it into standby mode, which doesn't consume as much power as when it's turned on, but does mean that the Wii is working a little bit (that's why it stays warm). You can disable it by turning off "Standby Connect" in the Wii setup.
  10. if the remote is staying warm and never cools down then make sure the remote and the box is turned off!!!!!! and unplug the box 4 bout 24 hours and just let it rebost.then try it again!!!!
  11. It's supposed to be orange, and it should be warm. The console's still in WiiConnect24, so it's still working. Orange Light means it's in standby, essentally the off mode.
  12. It's just WiiConnect24 I turn it off sometimes when I turn off my Wii But either way it's normal don't worry!
  13. The orange light means that the Wii is on standby and connected to Wii Connect 24 (which means the Wii can do automatic updates and recieve e-mails while you are not using it so it doesnt have to do it and waste your time while it is on.) And it is normal for it to stay a little warm, but dont worry about the power consumption, Nintendo put a power saver in it so that it can use minimum power possible while on standby. hope that helped
  14. If the light is orange, the system is "off", but still running WiiConnect24. In this state, virtually the entire system besides the system fan and part of the graphics chip are turned on still. As such, it is still using almost as much electricity and generating comparable levels of heat, but the fan isn't blowing that heat out. As a result, the system does get warm.
