What are the health benefits of playing Wii instead of watching TV or playing video games?

I was wondering how many more calories we burn if we play wii instead of watching TV or playing video games.

  1. None. You're burning a little bit of calories, but not enough to use it as an exercise program or to lose weight. You're better off walking or playing outside for 15 minutes than playing a Wii for 15 minutes. It's like going to a game. You can jump up and down and cheer the team, but you're not getting fit.
  2. Nothing is better to me all Nintendo was thinking is "hey lets make people think that throwing a remote around (and risking giving the people you love black eyes) will burn calories and get them fit, or you could save $250 and hurting your eyes because the you cant figure out if thats a ball or a bird coming at you. I say go outside and do the real thing.
  3. I haven't got the Wii to play at home. But I believe it could help you to reduce your weight. The Wii could make you to exercise by playing the games. For example : if you play tennis game, then you have to swing the "racket" as if you really playing it on the field. So you will get sweat and get healthy by playing Wii.
