Wii Console?

As everyone knows the Wii is like gold nowadays. Anyway, I found a place to purchase a Wii in Bedford, Texas for $189.99, I know that just crazy!! So I started reading their FAQs and it said that there electronics come ffrom Asia. Does anyone know if this is a good deal. I noticed on ebay that there are Wiis being sold and they are the Japanese version. What does this mean? I am very desperate, as most, to buy one of these ASAP. But I am very leery about this. Oh yeah, and the shipping is only $8.90 and you can only pay with a bank wire. Please give me some input, I don't want to buy this and then my children will have to learn Japanese. Has anyone bought a Japanese version of the Wii?

  1. NO DONT GET ONE!! This means they will Asian firmware, thus Asian interface, thus only play Asian games and wont work on NTSC or PAL TV
  2. I would be leery of that price today with the demand, something won't be right. There are some locators below where you may get lucky http://postmanposteth.blogspot.com/2007/12/get-wii-for-holidays.html
  3. Don't buy a japanese version unles you plan on going to japan to play it. Good luck on your wii search.
  4. Hrmmm. This sounds like a major scam to me. No seller is daft enough to sell a Wii for less than the retail price when demand is so high. They're probably either pirated systems or the place is just planning to take your money and run. If this is an online business, I'd say that any respectable online business uses PayPal nowadays. The fact that you can't even write a check is very fishy. And even if you did buy it, you can't buy games for it in America. Japanese Wiis read Japanese games. Keep your money and find a respectable seller in your area.
  5. i have a friend in hong kong who bought a wii and it was about that price so i'm gonna try to answer ur question. for a wii at that price, it's gonna be a japanese version, with no warrenty. the system works great, not a scam... however, if anything goes wrong with the system, u cant get a refund or replacement. also, it doesnt come with the wii sport like the wiis here in the US. that's why it's cheaper... my friend bought it for that price because she doesnt care about warrenty. moreover, japanese version wii can only play japanese games, so if u buy some US games, u wont be able to play it on ur japanese version wii, just like a US version wii, cant play japanese games. AND... on a japanese version wii, u can burn games and then play on the wii, but only japanese games and all games are of course, in japanese... so in my opinion, unless u like japanese games more than US games AND u can read japanese, u can go ahead and get that one. otherwise, i wouldnt get that.
