Is there anyway you can mod a Wii without having to take it apart? I know that on a PS2, you can get away with playing games that are burnt without having to mod it, I was wondering if you could do that with the Wii too, the Wii FreeLoader doesn't play burnt games, so is there another way to do it?

wii mod chip installed but cant play any backups? Right, i have installed a wii mod chip to play backups (only!!) of my orig games. But guess what... they dont work. I have followed the burning instructions to the letter (x2 speed etc...)but my wii will still not recognise any disks i burn off. any ideas??? is there any way to test to see if the mod chip is installed and working correctly? thanks!
Why can only some DVD drives be used for backing up Wii games and not others? I am about to buy a mod Wii and ive been reading in forums that mainly only certain LG drives are capable of backing up games, and other people have been posting other drives they hace been using to succesfully back up there games. Why is my Nintendo Wii black and white on the tv? I bought a mod chipped Wii from China. I tested it and played it on a PAL tv in China. I brought it back to Ireland (with a new voltage regulator) and plugged it into the PAL tv here. All games and Wii menus are now in black and white. is there a way to backup wii games and not have to put in a modchip dont want to hurt 250.00$? i have three kids and they sometimes are not very careful with the games but i dont want to mod my wii it was too much money to risk it getting messed up but i want the backups to play if something happens to the game!

Could a wireless internet connection affect a mod chip in a Wii? My boyfriend bought a Wii and had a guy attach the mod chip to the motherboard of the Wii so he could play backed up games. He has been able to play backed up games for nearly two months now on his Wii without issue. Recenly, he took his Wii to his father's house while we were out of town. His father has a wireless internet connection. We played Mario Party 8 (a purchased disk, not backed up) for about an hour. Later, his brother-in-law tried playing a backed up disk of The Godfather. The Wii didn't read it or any other game we tried. NOW THE WII WON'T READ ANY DISKS AT ALL! Not even the official Nintendo games I have purchased. Could the wireless connection affected the Wii? Having backed up disks of games you have purchased is perfectly legal, so I don't see how Nintendo could have "busted" him via the internet. (He has tried the install disk for the mod chip several times, and didn't need it right after the mod chip was installed) What could it be? A bad chip? This was an older version of the system. He bought it off his friend from work. He tried the mod chip on a new one and didn't work. Now he has 2 bad Wiis. This has to be the most stupid thing he has EVER DONE!

Has anybody here had any experience with the WII remote and IR tracking mods? so, I'm hooking my Wii-mote up to the computer, and making my own IR devices for tracking and control. I am looking for others that have done the same and have any suggestion. I've already been introduced by Johnny Lees incredible footage and I've seen cynergy's new "flash" finger tracking app so all thats old news. I'm looking for: experiences? wiring tips? api interfaces, dlls, flash interfacing, and cutting down on reflections ............... anything will help.

Here, the price of a wii console (american ver) is around US$420. its way expensive then the time i bought mine (approx US$350). is it true that the price for wii console around the world rises?? Can a Wii Mod chip allow the ability to play American games on the Japanese Wii? Well, I couldn't find any Wii's in any stores. So, my parents have a friend who lives in Japan, and they wired the money to them to buy two Wii's: one for me, and one for a friend. I have a Japanese version of SSBB... and I have a mod chip (US Wii)? So I have a mod chip on a US Wii and I just got a Japanese SSBB. Apparently, it doesn't work because after the update it says Invalid system detected or something like that. I have to bet it's the update but at least all my other games still work. (I also have the dual news and weather channels). But I gotta ask, is it also the fact that I'm using a US Wii and not a Japan Wii that's causing the problem? Plus, if I buy an original US retail SSBB, will it work on my US modded Wii? The mod version and mod chip names are confusing, especially since I don't know which I have! PLS HELP!!! Do you know it is not illegal to 'mod' your wii? At least not in the USA! I personally would not do it myself--but it is NOT illegal. The right to do so was established long ago in our court systems--when VHS recorders first hit the market and it was determined consumers have the right to record TV shows without it being regarded as a violation of copyright laws. Once you buy it, it is your personal property to do with as you wish, as long as you don't use it for illegal purposes. It is legal to "mod" your Wii--to back up and play your own titles that you legitimately own, as well as playing "homebrew" games, created by those who elect to "share" them with the general public. What is not legal is to use your "modded" Wii to copy and run games that you obtained illegally. "Bricking" the system of "modded" consoles? Maybe unintentionally, but if done deliberately? That could actually be regarded as intentional destruction of private property which could be cause for a lawuit. Lasagna and Zisw, A number of people here have claimed that modding is "illegal" and a question on it was recently deleted. I just wanted to clarify that this is simply not true. If the console manufacturers intentionally "bricked" the consoles of those who "modded" them? Well, intentional destruction of private property is illegal and could be grounds for a lawsuit against the manufacturer. Alex, Look 6 questions down and you will see that everyone does NOT know this. And it's been a reoccuring contention on this board. Rooster, Yes, you can buy "mod chips" in regular retail stores for the very reason that they ARE legal to buy and install. None of which is to say I condone, advocate, or recommend doing so. I don't. Magician, I've read the DMCA, and it explicitly excludes USERS. It pertains only to manufacturers and importers, and even then, only under specific limited circumstances. If you are not aware, the DMCA act explicitly discusses and covers VHS devices, however game consoles actually are not even mentioned. Sony lost in the landmark "Sony vs. Stevens" case in Austrailia, which ruled "mod chips" do not infringe on copyright laws. Sony did win a case against a "mod-chip" company, but that was because the defendent had willfully violated a court order to turn over proprietary information, and refused to stop even after they had signed a consent agreeing to. The court also found against an Italian company, "mod chip" company, but this was because they had not used legal means to obtain certain proprietary information used to make their "mod chips". Irregardless, none of this pertains to the end user, which the act explicitly exclludes. Hilpoof, Microsoft made similar arguments and was found guilty of violating antimonopoly laws. that "slippery slope" slants both ways. I'm opposed to piracy but value personal freedom rights far more. And I've had computers fry and a neighbor who broke an entire caseful of my CDs when he stumbled and fell on them. It was ok though--I had backups! That I can't protect my rather extensive--and expensive--gaming library the same way without the need of having to "mod" my console is very wrong. Wii Mod Chips!? So, im 14 and I am really confused to this new world of modchips. I really want to mod my wii and I have a feel a family friend who is a computer technee could help me do this. Wii mod and DVD Burners? I am a little bit confused. I am going to mod my Wii, and have my mod chip already to go. The thing that is concerning me is the dvd burners. my wii has a mod chip inside it and i wana know where i can download wii games from to burn them and play them ill i want are sites that are safe and free to download wii games from...thanx
can i play online with a wii modchip? i live in europe, but just bought my wii in the states (i'm here for the summer). i thought that it wouldn't matter since i can mod the wii to play european games, and the wii doesn't have any real online gameplay anyway. and then i found out about Mario Strikers Charged, which gamespot says is especially fun playing multiplayer online (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/sports/mariostrikerscharged/review.html?sid=6175854&tag=topslot;title;1). now, i could live without this one game, but i'm worried i might end out missing out on a lot of the wii's potential... is there any way mod chips would make it okay to play online european games on an american console?
